Summary
- Provide outstanding, knowledgeable customer service, maintain proper merchandising standards and safeguard store assets according to PJ’s Pets standards.
Responsibilities
- Check stock daily to ensure all products are available for customers
- Promote an awareness of all corporate/in-store promotions advertising to customers
- Assist in carrying products to registers, bagging merchandise and carry-outs
- Ensure all stock is front-faced, clean, organized and priced accordingly
- Vacuum, sweep floors and empty trash daily (if assigned)
- Maintain PJ’s Pets image by adhering to the dress guidelines
- Promptly greet and welcome each and every customer
- Seek out customer contact
- Provide immediate customer service recovery
- Display appropriate body language at all times
- Genuinely thank each and every customer

- Effective communication skills
- Ability to sort, check, count and verify numbers
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation
- Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
- Capable of applying knowledge of Health and Safety procedures gained via training
- Ability to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
- Strong working knowledge of pets and pet care appropriate to assigned department
Environmental Conditions
- Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, unpleasant odors and loud noises
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, such as, but not limited to animal bites or disease, which require following basic safety
precautions
- Moderate physical activity, lifting up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking from more that 4 hours per day
